Memorial Day 2014

We started out our morning bright and early with a 10K Memorial Day Remembrance Run with American Fork City. The funny thing is we got up bright and early Saturday morning too because we actually thought it was that day. We did it with our friends Erin, Danny, Stephenson and Scott. They are all so fast and since we pushed Bryce in the stroller we were pretty slow. We finished in 1:07 (1:06 for Russ). The run was a little more intense than I anticipated. I thought last weeks hills in the Thanksgiving Point Gardens were bad but I was wrong. We ran the hills then would walk a little ways at the top. Overall, I was pretty proud of us. The run finishes by going through the American Fork Cemetery. I am still not sure how I feel about that. I think it was disrespectful as there were many families visiting loved ones as we ran by. On the other hand, I understand the run was to honor the fallen Soldiers, who may be buried there. I just know I'd be a little ticked if someone was running a race right next to Olivia's grave.
We came home to change then went to the Lindon Pool with Tanner and Lauren. Bryce loved the lazy river and probably went around 10 times. He just floated around on his own with his life jacket thing. I hope his enthusiasm for the water continues when he starts swim lessons with week.

We ended our day the very best way possible, we visited our sweet, baby Olivia. This morning as we were driving to the race Bryce said "want to see oh-ee-uh." I am so glad he thinks about her and knows how important she is! As we drove up to the cemetery he said "oh-ee-uh's house." Tanner, Lauren and Russ' family met us there to visit her. We took her a pink and yellow mum and a yellow flower pinwheel. We were so pleased that others brought flowers, flags, metal flowers and more pinwheels. We also let the kids draw on the cement around the headstone with chalk. Russ and I also wrote her notes with the chalk. It was so nice to have other family come visit her and to see her beautiful headstone. She has so many decorations and I hope she knows how loved she is! I know Memorial Day is technically for fallen soldiers but I memorialize my baby today too!

I love that Russ wrote "daddy loves you!"
