Lately...

Seems I am a little behind on my blogging. Here is an overview of the past few months!

Stained Beams
Russ and I stained the beams on our porch.

Dirty Dash
I ran the dirty dash for the first time this year with my co-workers from Stonehaven. We dressed up in 80s gear. It was so fun running through the mud and falling into rivers of freezing cold water! Next year Russ and I plan to get a team together and do it again.

Melting Pot
Russ and I discovered Salt Lake Dine O'round this year. We went to the Melting Pot with Kolby and Kasey. It was good but I think if I ever went back it would only be for dessert. The cheese appetizer was really good and the dessert was to die for, I still dream about it, but the meat requires too much work. You have to cook each piece of meet for about 2 minutes. I swear we were at the restaurant for 3 and a half hours but it was a fun experience. After dinner we walked around City Creek and Temple Square.

Family Dinner with the Hunsaker's
We had dinner with the Hunsaker's this past month and got a great picture of Grandpa and Grandma Thornock holding Bryce. We also got to see Baby Lincoln and how much bigger he is than Brycey.

American Fork Canyon
I had been admiring the fall leaves for a while and a patient of mine told me that I needed to drive up American Fork Canyon on the Alpine Loop. I have lived in Utah for 7 years and had never been up AF canyon. I can't believe there is so much I haven't done. Partially because I didn't know what I was missing and partly because we just didn't go up there. It was beautiful! Next summer we plan to go camping up there.

Four Wheeling in Nephi Canyon
Russ and I went four wheeling up Nephi Canyon with Russ' parent and Tyler and Nicole.

a few leaves I brought home
Pumpkin Patch
We took Bryce to Hee Haw Farms along with Tanner, Lauren and some friends. Bryce loved to grab at the animals and sit in the pumpkins.

BYU Football Game
We took Bryce to a football game. Terrible idea. He hates loud noises and just stopped having a melt down when Russ sneezes so going to the BYU football stadium was his worst nightmare. Poor little guy freaked out every time the crowd cheered which was after every play. Needless to say he wont be going to another football game for a while.

Russ' Surprise Birthday Party
Russ hates celebrating his birthday every year but this year he turned 30 and I wouldn't let him not celebrate. I invited some friends and family over for the BYU football game. Tanner took Russ to look at cars, not because we are getting a new car but because Tanner loves to look at cars and Russ saw one he liked. When they returned from the dealership everyone was waiting to surprise him. He was totally surprised and had a good time.

Sunday Bike Ride
Tanner let us use his bike carriage for Bryce. Russ doesn't have a bike yet but we took turns pulling bike in the trailer. We have a short but very nice bike trail near our house.

Halloween
Bryce dressed up at a monster for our ward trunk or treat. We didn't take him out trick or treating this year but he sure looked cute in his costume. Addi came with us too and she sure makes a cute witch! Grammy and Grampy were visiting this week too.

Hunting
Russ got an bull elk tag from Papa this year. He has never been hunting before but was excited at the idea of killing a big elk. We drove down to Chama on Halloween and Russ and Papa began hunting Thursday morning at 545 am. They went out every morning and every evening and saw a few deer and a few cow elk but no bulls. I started to feel like I should go out with Russ and Pops to keep things interesting. I had never been hunting either so I got up and went out with them. That day we saw a nice bull across a valley up on a hill. By the time Russ and Papa decided that it was a good one to shoot it had walked up over the hill and we never saw it or any other elk again. I think Russ was disappointed and rightly so. The good news is that Papa gets bull elk, cow elk and deer tags every year so Russ can try again.  Maybe with a cow or deer tag next time. I enjoyed the experience and I know he enjoyed spending time with Papa out on the 400. We call it the 400 because when Papa bought the land it was 400 acres but now it is 1,000+ and it is Papa's pride and joy. He has build all the roads and several ponds on the property. It is a gorgeous place and love going out there.
